The draft Strategy includes solutions to meet North West Queensland’s urban, rural and industrial water needs over the longer term, and was developed in partnership with local governments and other stakeholders to achieve the best possible environmental, social and economic outcomes.
The draft Strategy promotes water services that are consistent with the North West Regional Plan, the Water Resource (Gulf) Plan 2007, Water Resource (Georgina and Diamantina) Plan 2004 and the Water Resource (Great Artesian Basin) Plan 2006.
Submissions on the draft strategy were sought and closed on 15 June 2012.
