Project structure

A strategy management committee comprising representatives from state government agencies, local governments and key stakeholders has been established to develop the strategy, with the Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) as the lead agency.

The overall role of the strategy management committee is to provide overarching project and policy direction to the department in developing the strategy.

Membership of the committee has been drawn from the following organisations:

Technical working groups provide support to the various technical studies underpinning the development of the strategy. Members come from key partner/stakeholder organisations, and have the technical expertise and local knowledge necessary for providing and reviewing information on water supply and demand and related topics relevant to the strategy.

A stakeholder reference panel comprising representatives from organisations in the broader community disseminates information about the strategy to a wider range of community stakeholders, and provides input to the strategy. The panel interacts directly with the department through the project manager to ensure effective communication about the strategy.
