Strategy area
The strategy area (PDF, 509K)* of approximately 10 000 km2 includes the Yarrabah Shire Council and parts of Cairns and Tablelands Regional Councils that are incorporated in the following eight catchments:
- Daintree River
- Mossman River
- Upper Mitchell subcatchment
- Walsh subcatchment
- Upper Herbert subcatchment
- North Johnstone subcatchment
- Barron River
- Mulgrave River.
To investigate water needs and supply options, the strategy divides the area into the following sub-regions:
- Barron, Mulgrave and Walsh subcatchment
- Upper Mitchell subcatchment
- Upper Herbert subcatchment
- Upper Johnstone subcatchment
- Mossman and Daintree catchments.
