Healthy HeadWaters Water Use Efficiency project – supporting projects
Within the Healthy HeadWaters Water Use Efficiency (HHWUE) project, funding has been set aside to undertake a number of supporting projects to enable irrigators to make informed decisions about project participation. Projects include:
Benchmarking of centre pivot and lateral move systems
Benchmarking involves searching for best practices, innovative ideas and effective operating procedures that lead to superior performance.
This project compares the performance of centre pivot and lateral move (CPLM) irrigation systems in different locations within the Queensland Murray–Darling Basin.
Under the project, the department has contracted WaterBiz Pty Ltd to evaluate seasonal water use for a range of CPLM systems to demonstrate the differences in performance and potential water savings that may exist.
The data will help irrigators using surface irrigation to compare their current water use and system performance, providing more confidence and enabling them to make more informed decisions regarding water in their business.
