Strategic Cropping Land: Draft State Planning Policy Overview

The strategic cropping land (SCL) State Planning Policy (SPP) will be the main mechanism for protecting SCL through the planning and development assessment framework under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 (SPA). Its main aim will be to ensure SCL is protected and managed in terms of those developments that lead to its permanent alienation. When finalised, the new SCL SPP will ensure developments assessable under SPA, local government planning schemes and regional plans include appropriate consideration of SCL.
