Brigalow Catchment Study data

Datasets from the Brigalow Catchment Study are available for download. Some are formatted for direct input into the simulation model HowLeaky (McClymont et al. 2006).

The .xls files can be viewed using Microsoft Excel, while the other files can be viewed using a standard text editor (such as Notepad in Windows ).

Digital data are supplied with a licence. By using the data you confirm that you have read the licence conditions and that you agree to be bound by the terms.

Climate data

This data file is for direct input into the daily rainfall runoff model HowLeaky as used in Thornton et al. (2007).

It is a tab-delimited text file and contains daily rainfall totals (mm to 9 am) for the top pluviometer of the Brigalow Catchment Study along with temperature, evaporation and solar radiation from the SILO website (NRM enhanced meteorological datasets 2005). A description of the columns is contained in the file.

Observed daily runoff

These data files are for direct input into the daily rainfall runoff model HowLeaky as used in Thornton et al. (2007).

They are comma-delimited data files and contain observed daily runoff totals (mm to 9 am) for each of the three catchments. Missing observations have been replaced by an estimated value from a calibrated HowLeaky model. A description of the columns is contained in each file.

Rainfall and runoff

These data files are the daily rainfall totals (mm to 9 am) for the top pluviometer (Cowie et al. 2007) of the study and observed daily runoff totals (mm to 9 am) for the study’s three catchments from 1965 to 2004. Missing runoff observations have been replaced by an estimated value from a calibrated HowLeaky model.

The file is a tab-delimited text file. A description of the columns is contained in the file.

Crop history

These files contain crop history (type, variety, planting and harvest date) and grain quality (yield, protein, nitrogen and phosphorus). They are available in text (.txt) and Microsoft Excel file format (.xls). The text file is tab-delimited. A description of the columns is contained in each file.

Cattle live-weight

These files contain cattle live-weight data for drafts or individual animals, available in text (.txt) and Microsoft Excel (.xls) file formats. The text file is tab-delimited. A description of the columns is contained in each file.
