Interim Water Resource Plan - Upper Condamine Alluvium

On 10 August 2012, a Water Management Plan (PDF, 704K)* for the Upper Condamine Alluvium area was declared under the Queensland Water Act 2000. The Upper Condamine Alluvium (PDF, 420K)* is a water resource unit recognised under the Proposed Murray–Darling Basin Plan.

The declared Water Management Plan applies to the groundwater resources of the Upper Condamine Alluvium Sustainable Diversion Limit area (PDF, 648K)*, as identified in the Proposed Basin Plan.

Under the Commonwealth Water Act 2007, this plan is recognised as an Interim Water Resource Plan. The plan should not be confused with a Water Resource Plan prepared under Queensland legislation. Although the plan was made under Queensland law, it is not subordinate legislation and does not change existing management arrangements for water in the Condamine Balonne plan area.

The plan is a collation of existing management arrangements and tools—under the Queensland Water Act 2000 and the Water Regulation 2002—already in place for the Upper Condamine Alluvium Sustainable Diversion Limit area. These include:

The plan ensures that holders of existing groundwater entitlements in the Upper Condamine Alluvium Sustainable Diversion Limit area are eligible to participate in Commonwealth water recovery initiatives, including voluntary purchasing of groundwater entitlements.
