Land Practice
Stock management refers to the key animal management decisions and husbandry practices that determine the type, number, health and performance of stock held on a property. It is undertaken in combination with other land practices to achieve the ultimum goal of marketing a valuable product at a profit while maintaining or improving the productivity of the land.
Stock management may involve the management activities of:
- Aquaculture stocking rates
- Grazing land stocking rate
- Livestock access to waterways
- Livestock species selection
- Pesticide application
- Pest animal control
- Solid animal waste management
- Supplementary feeding for production
- Supplementary feeding for maintenance
