The Land Manager's Monitoring Guide (LMMG) provides land managers with a suite of natural resource monitoring information to assist them with monitoring and demonstrating the results of more sustainable management.

This monitoring information can be used for purposes such as:

Information offered consists of guidelines for developing a monitoring plan and a listing of possible indicators, together with a selection tool to choose the most relevant monitoring indicator/s.

Using the Land Manager's Monitoring Guide

If you have a good idea of what you want to monitor you can browse the indicator section of this guide. Otherwise you can use the guide’s decision support tool. This tool shows the connection between the key enterprises or production systems, land practices, management activities, potential environmental impacts, and suggested indicators (see How to use this guide). Developing a simple land manager's monitoring plan may also help to choose and prioritise what you want to monitor.

Background

The LMMG replaces the Natural Resource Monitoring Guide (NR&M 1999).

The background and drivers for the development of a Guide to support property level monitoring are detailed in a conference paper, A landholder’s monitoring guide for sustainable natural resource management practice (PDF, 69K)*.

The Land Manager’s Monitoring Guide has been produced with the assistance and contributions of many individuals and organisations (PDF, 49K)*.
